An inclined deck of ceramic roof tiles descends into a rainwater “ocean” within a suburban front yard. This fabricated synthetic beach utilizes traditional Danish roofing technologies and materials to create an undulating surface that glides into a gently lapping sea. The water feature was realized by flooding the grounds of the instantHERLEV2 site with rainwater harvested directly from the residence’s roof.
